Universal death sentence 2/18/2008

We all know we have a problem with health care prices. They’re too high, and they’re escalating.

As I wrote on the Where I Stand page of my Web site, I believe the solution to lower health care prices is to have consumers as closely involved in their health care decisions as possible.

In today’s Tribune-Review there’s a great column by Robert Morris University professor Ralph Reiland, who makes the case, as so many before him have, that “universal” health care is not a solution to our problem, and could create even more problems.

I urge all of you to read it. My feeling is that it would be a bad idea to allow the same type of folks who manage the post office to decide when your child get get an operation.
