Tax cuts, anyone? 1/15/2008
As you know, my campaign is about reducing the oppressive regulatory and tax burden in Pennsylvania. We need to foster a friendlier economic climate.
That’s why it was so good to hear that Rep. Thomas Quigley (R-Montgomery) is proposing a cut in the personal income tax.
Normally, we wouldn’t want to cut taxes without also reducing spending. Frankly, I think we should reduce spending no matter what we do with tax rate levels.
But the fact is that Pennsylvania’s coffers are flush with cash, estimated at $650 million more than projected. In other words, our state government is hording dollars that would be more productive in the hands of taxpayers. Worse, with that money sitting there in Harrisburg, it causes the many lobbyists looking to loot the public treasury to salivate.
If my campaign to change Pennsylvania for the better is successful, I’ll push to reduce government spending, and taxes, as much as possible.
It’s time we put government on a diet.
