Expensive roads and burdensome taxes 2/5/2008
Today’s Tribune-Review contains two articles that demonstrate why it’s so tough to do business in PA, and why job-creation is thwarted.
One article describes how tiny Youngwood (in Westmoreland Co.) is appealing a legal ruling by the courts upholding a decision by the Department of Labor and Industry requiring the borough to pay “prevailing wages” for some roadwork.
This ruling dramatically increased the cost of the road project in this little borough. If upheld, this ruling will make road work, which is so desperately needed across the commonwealth, more difficult to accomplish.
Another article looks at PA’s high business taxes and efforts by some state legislators, like Rep. Mike Turzai of Bradford Woods, and business groups, like the Pennsylvania Business Council, to reduce the oppressive tax burden, making PA more conducive to job creation.
Our campaign is all about sending a legislator to Harrisburg who will join the fight to make Pennsylvania more job friendly.
