Cigarettes and Tennis Courts 1/24/2008
This morning’s Tribune-Democrat must have irritated a lot of taxpayers. At least I hope so.
At the top of the front page was a story about the Johnstown city council approving an $86,750 expediture for refurbishing Roxbury Park’s tennis courts.
At the bottom of the front page was a story about the Cambria County nursing home, Laurel Crest, paying people to monitor residents who smoke.
These two decisions, made by governmental bodies that recently approved tax increases, should be reversed immediately. While my campaign for the state legislature will not put me in a position to impact either decision, as a concerned citizen I will continue to vocalize on such things.
I hope the taxpayers will as well.
